Animal man

Oil on panel.

Acrylic paint on cardboard. Where each animal represents a particular emotion and the djungle our unconscious.

Oil on cardboard. Some sort of simplified idea of drapings.

Woman in cave

Oil paint on panel. Alice who has been too long in the rabbit hole perhaps?

Juggler of Klee

Oil paint on panel. Paul Klee has always been a source of inspiration. His fragmented worlds and cartoonish characters are full of energy and unexpected solutions.

A study in odd anatomy

Oil paint on cardboard. Burnt sienna, ocher, burnt umber and navy blue …

Man before wall

Oil paint on panel.

Oil paint on panel. This is homage to Andrew Wyeth’s painting Christina’s World. Strangely, upon creating the painting I was not consciously aware of Christina’s disease (see below), but considering the mutilation of the character in the image the unconscious had obviously made the conclusion.

From Wikipedia:

“The woman in the painting is Christina Olson (3 May 1893–27 January 1968). She is known to have suffered from Polio, a muscular deterioration that paralyzed her lower body, although other diagnoses, in particular Charcot–Marie–Tooth disease, are also possible.”

Oil paint on panel. Experimenting with expressionism, the earth colours and navy blue. The thoughts upon working with this simple palette was that it is interesting how a palette consisting of only warm-cold and light-dark dimensions can give such a wide range of possibilities in expression.

Lewis Carroll

One of my favourite books as a child – or rather the favourite book – was Alice in Wonderland, this peculiar story with the aim to portray a dream. The grown up version being Finnegans wake, with the word games, irrationality and twists and turns. Always a fascinating subject.

Icon Mary Jesus

Acrylic painting on panel after classic motif. The meticulous work with the lines and gradients made me transcend into an almost meditative state. Which I guess is the point of such work?

Decadence Man With Scarf

Acrylic painting with gold leaf from the serie: “Decadence”, distorted  faces/bodies with a 20′s flavour.
